1. What did Lencho hope for ?
= Lencho hope for a downpour or at least a shower.

2. Why did Lencho say the raindrops were like 'new coins' ?
= The only thing Lencho needed for his fields where raindrops, that would have helped in getting a better harvest, resulting in more money or prosperity, hence he compared raindrops with new coins.

3. How did the rain change ? What happened to Lencho's fields ?
= Suddenly a strong wind began to blow and rain was not filled with water drops, instead it rained hil and after the hail storm, not a leaf remained on the trees. The field was white as if covered with salt, and his corn fields were completely destroyed.

4. What were Lencho's feelings when the hail stopped ?
= After the hail stopped, seeing the destruction Lencho became very sad, he was very upset and worried thinking what will he and his family eat, they will all go hungry this year.

5. Who or What did lencho have faith in ? What did he do ?
= Lencho had complete faith in God, that god will help him in his bad condition, hence he wrote a letter addressing God to send him 100 pesos to sow his field again and to live until the crop comes.

6. Who read the letter ?
= The Postmaster- a fat, amiable fellow read the letter.

7. What did the Postmaster do then ?
= Postmaster thought of helping Lencho, in order not to shake his faith in God. So the Postmaster gathered some money from his employees, his friends and he himself also gave part of his salary and sended it to Lencho, in this way the postmaster answered Lencho's letter to God.

8. Was Lencho surprised to find a letter for him with money in it ?
= No Lencho was not at all surprised to see the letter from God with money in it, because he had immense faith in God that he will surely help him.

9. What made him angry ?
= Lencho got angry when he counted the money, as he demanded hundred pesos, but only 70 pesos reached him, and he believed that the post office employees have stolen the rest of the amount because god could never make a mistake.

1. Who does Lencho have complete faith in ? Which sentences in the story tell you this ?
= Lencho had complete faith in God. The sentences in the story that shows this are; God, "if you don't help me, my family and I will go hungry this year." He wrote 'To God' on the envelope.
God could not have made a mistake, nor could he have denied, what I had requested.

2. Why does the Postmaster send money to Lencho ? Why does he sign the letter 'God' ?
= The Postmaster sent money to Lencho, because he didn't want Lencho to lose his faith in god, he wanted to keep alive the trust of Lencho in God and he signed the letter as God to convey a message that the God had himself helped Lencho.

3. Did Lencho try to find out who had sent the money to him ? Why/ why not ?
= No Lencho did not try to find out who had sent the money, because he had such a strong faith in god, that he could not imagine that anyone else would send him the money to help him.

4. Who does Lencho think has taken the rest of the money ? What is the irony in the situation ?
= Lencho thought that the post office employees have taken the rest of the money. The irony of the situation was that the one who helped Lencho, contributed money for him, though the money was less than the amount Lencho asked for, and because of this Lencho thought that the post office employees were the ones who took the missing amount, and he called them bunch of Crooks.

5. Are there people like Lencho in the real world ? What kind of a person would you say he is ?
= In the real world it is almost impossible to find a person like Lencho. People do believe in God but Lencho was an unquestioning, naive and stupid kind of person.

6. There are two kinds of conflict in the story
: between humans and nature, and between humans themselves. How are these conflicts illustrated ?
= The conflict between human and nature is illustrated by the destruction of Lencho's crops by the hailstorm, the crops were destroyed when the hail storm struck the field.
The another conflict that the story illustrates is between humans themselves, when Lencho write the letter to God it shows, he didn't thought of getting help from any other men, and when he doubts the post office employees, it shows the nature of man to distrust another man and it is the conflict between man and man.
